Winter Over Lake Erie
Winter Over Lake Erie is the first piece created of my monochromatic Winter Lake series. This particular piece found its origin stemming from a dark and heavy sky that appeared to be hovering over a section of Lake Erie as myself and my family were driving east on the I90 on our way to western New York.
I am drawn to and fascinated by the cloudy, dark skies that are created as storms are forming and passing over. The sense of smallness that is felt when watching them from the distance The power that resonates within them. All of which I tried to recreate using my pallet knife.
Winter Over Lake Erie is a mixed media painting consisting of modeling paste and acrylic paint. The use of cobalt blue and white were used to create this monochromatic painting which measures 12 x 12 x 1.5” The edges are finished and the painting is ready to hang in its new home. I initial all of my paintings on the front and sign, date and label them on the back. If you would like more information or have questions about this painting, please feel free to contact me.
